Introduction to the morphological characteristics of shrimp

Shrimp is a decapod swimming suborder of Crustacea, with nearly 2,000 species, most of which live in rivers and lakes. All have beards and hooked noses, dorsal arches are node-shaped, and their tails have hard scaly feet, and they are good at jumping. Many species are important foods, such as single frozen shrimp, bamboo shrimp, head shrimp, head shrimp, etc. The size ranges from several meters to several millimeters, with an average of 4 to 8 cm. Larger ones are called prawns. It can swim backwards quickly by bending the abdomen and tail. Eat tiny creatures, some eat carrion. Female shrimp can lay 1,500 to 14,000 eggs, which are attached to swimming limbs. It goes through 5 developmental stages before reaching adulthood. Its seeds are outside the abdomen, and the taste is very fresh, and people like to eat it.

The shrimp is long and flat, with a calcareous exoskeleton, which is divided into two parts, the cephalothorax and the abdomen. The cephalothorax is covered by a carapace. The abdomen consists of 7 somites. The front end of the carapace has a long serrated forehead sword and a pair of compound eyes with a handle that can be rotated. Shrimp breathe with gills, which are located on both sides of the cephalothorax and are covered by a carapace. The mouth of the shrimp is at the bottom of the cephalothorax. There are 2 pairs of antennae on the cephalothorax, responsible for smell, touch and balance, as well as a masticator composed of large and small jaws. There are also 3 pairs of maxillopods on the cephalothorax, which help to hold food, and 5 pairs of walking legs, which are mainly used for preying and crawling. The abdomen has 5 pairs of swimming limbs and a pair of stubby tail limbs. The tail limb and the last part of the abdomen are combined into a tail fan, which can control the swimming direction of the shrimp.

Shrimp's motor organs are very underdeveloped, and they can only crawl slowly on the seabed at ordinary times. They can also swim for short distances by using the flexion and extension of the body's abdomen.

Introduction to the growing environment of shrimp

Shrimp swimming is very different from fish. The fish can swim forward by swinging its tail fin. However, a shrimp does not have a tail fin like a fish, but only has one tail and many calves. So how does it swim? Shrimp also has its "smart tricks". Shrimp are good swimmers and can swim long distances with their legs. When it swims, those swimming feet are like wooden paddles, and the body is slowly driven forward. When frightened, its abdomen flexes and extends agilely, and its tail paddles down and forward, and it can jump backwards continuously, and the speed is very fast. Some shrimp are not good at swimming, and lobsters spend most of their time crawling on the sand and rocks on the seabed.

Respiration and circulation The gills of the prawn are located in the gill chambers formed on both sides of the carapace, and the gill chambers communicate with the outside world in the front, back and ventral surfaces. The gills are mostly pinnate, with a total of 25 pairs. They are attached to the lateral wall of the thorax or the base of the thoracic limbs. The epidermis is extremely thin. There are jaw navicular plates in the gill chamber that continuously swing, so that fresh water enters from the back and ventral surface and flows out forward. The circulation system is an open-tube type. The heart is a flat polygonal muscle sac, located in the pericardial sinus on the dorsal side of the cephalothorax. There are 4 pairs of cardiac holes, two pairs on the back, one pair on both sides of the rear end, and the other pair near the rear end of the ventral surface of the heart. There are valves that control the flow of blood.

The benefits of eating shrimp

Shrimp is rich in nutrients, and its flesh is soft and easy to digest.
Shrimp is rich in magnesium. Magnesium has an important regulatory effect on heart activity and can well protect the cardiovascular system. It can reduce the content of cholesterol in the blood, prevent arteriosclerosis, and expand coronary arteries at the same time, which is beneficial to the prevention of high blood pressure. and myocardial infarction.
